On-site Clinical Trials Billing Compliance Workshops

"The mere imparting of information is not education. Above all things, the effort must result in making a man think and do for himself."
- Carter G. Woodson

Many research-related billing problems can be traced back to procedures occurring (or not occurring) well before a clinical trial enrolls its first participant. Failure to establish a framework for conducting thorough coverage analyses prior to entering into research contracts or completing a grant application is probably one of the weakest links in the system.

This workshop is designed to provide participants with a working knowledge of all applicable regulations from Medicare / Medicaid to the FDA and NIH. At the conclusion of the workshop, the instructors perform live coverage analyses with the participants on a sample of the institution's research studies to provide the group with “hands-on” experience and ensure understanding of the subject matter.

The workshops are taught by Debbie McAllister, who developed the first coverage analysis process and methodology approved by the DOJ in the Rush University settlement agreement, and Nicole Almiro, who was among the first in the country to incorporate coverage analyses into budgeting and contract negotiations at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Having worked with some of the largest health care providers and universities in the country, the workshop blends their teaching skills of explaining the rules in a concise, logical way with the experience of offering practical operational solutions to teach your organization how to better address compliance risks inherent in conducting clinical research.
